Catalytic Downtown Castle Rock

On April 21, 2011, the Collaborative Design Group presented their ideas for the revitalization of Castle Rock to the Downtown Development Authority and the Castle Rock Economic Development Council.

The urban planning team presented visions of an appealing downtown square that details the road improvements and architectural features required to achieve it.  Beginning with the consideration of the automobile, bicycle, pedestrian and even future mass transit, the plan brings the focus back to the city center.

CDG’s documentation builds on the existing features of the area, adding lofts, landscaping, benches, and entirely new buildings.  The goal is to create livable and safe streets where multiple generations will want to walk around and linger.  Each street has its own character: for example, The Market and Culture and Education.

I understand that this catalytic design project won a national AIBD award. Is that noted here? Todd
